    1. The committee met in may, at the ACC in Anchorage with a good attendance. We discussed mostly the issues of active groups in control, organization of a meeting with IMS officials during the b’02 in Barcelona and the country of the month initiative.
    2. The list of Active control groups supported by the IEEE/CSS has been updated. This was an initiative started by Michel Gevers and the list was kept in Michel’s web site and has been moved to the IEEE/CSS IAC web page. I have written to all active groups asking for an update of their information, a short activity report and I also wrote to IAC members to inquire if they could name other groups in their region that could be listed. The list is been updated, it will be discussed in the IAC meeting and transferred to the IEEE/CSS IAC web page in the near future.
    3. There was a meeting organized by the IAC as part of its activities of some of the IAC members with Mrs Dietlind Jering from the IMS Program Secretariat of the European Commission during the IFAC world congress in Barcelona (july). Mrs Jering presented the IMS program and there was a lively discussion with the attendees. The IMS initiative is very interesting for this Committee as it opens up the possibility of funding research projects with research teams from Europe, America, Australia and Japan.
    4. I contacted the Samad Tariq about the possibility of publishing the reports originated from the Country of the month initiative in CSM. Samad would be happy to publish a regular series of columns in CSM highlighting control activities in different countries. I plan to discuss this at the IAC meeting in Las Vegas and discuss with Samad the implementation details.
